To The Family: May God grant and give you peace during the days ahead. Preacher Sam was a wonderful man and friend. I enjoyed our times together seeing him when he pastored in Johnsonville as well as our numerous chats during Annual Conference each year. He was truly a soldier in God\'s army. He has know been clothed in Glory and is now right where he always longed to be... May you find peace knowing his race is complete and he is with our Lord. My prayers to all of you- my life was richly blessed knowing this man. God Speed Brad Richardson Former Johnsonville City Councilman Delegate to United Methodist Annual Conference (Good Hope UMC)

Mr. Clardy was the best of men who influenced so many young people. After his career in schools he went on to what was a true measure of who he was as he ministered to many more. Several friends in the class of 69 have talked this week about him and all he meant to us. He was a rare man who could be gentle and firm at the same time. I hope for each of you that your memories of him bring joy as you walk through a time of sadness. Love to each of you, Joy Cutler

Sammy was truly one of the "good guys". It was my pleasure to have known him during our time together at Wofford. Having two long careers serving others speaks volumes about his character and his dedication to his fellow man. He will most certainly be missed.

Mrs Clardy and family I wanted you to know that I\\\'m thinking of you and holding you in the Light. I hope that in time the sadness and bitterness of this moment will blend together with the sweetness of your time together into bittersweet memories that will sustain you until that time when you\\\'re together again. Mr. Coach Reverend touched and influenced the lives of all he came in contact with. I am thankful to have known him.

To the Clardy family, I can’t imagine losing a parent, and Mrs. Carole, I can’t even imagine what you are going through. I have many fond memories of Mr. Sammy but one especially Comes to mind ( Catherine I know you have heard this over and over but the rest of your family hasn’t). Somehow I managed to slide down a screw on the swingset. I was crying because it hurt so bad and Mr. Sammy started singing “Mama’s Little Baby Loves Shortening Breading Bread.” He had me laughing and crying at the same time. I also remember when I slammed Catherine’s hand in the door and when I threw the softball at her and accident,y hit her in the face somehow. I remember in the beginning right after Mrs. Carole and Mr. Sammy moved here from Barnwell when I was about four. You guys came to my house because he’d be coaching with daddy and I was like, “Cool, a girl my age!” There’s so much more I remember fondly and I could go on all day, but I’ll leave it at this. He will always be a big place in my heart and a big part of my childhood. I can’t even imagine what all you guys are going through right now. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
