Mr. Stanford “Stan” Dawsey, age 74, of Aynor passed away at Seacoast McLeod Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Stan was the son of the late Hiram and Eloise Dudley Dawsey. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by one sister, Ms. Rachel Dawsey and one brother-in-law, Bill Lawrimore. Mr. Dawsey was a member of Aynor Methodist Church where he served in many capacities. He retired from the US Army Reserves after 23 years of service where he was a Drill Sergeant at Fort Jackson. Mr. Dawsey was a very devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered as being a lovable, kind, respectable, and honest person to all. Mr. Stan served in many organizations such as: President of the Columbia Finance, Officer for the SC Bankers Association, President for the Rotary Club of Lexington, served on the Lexington Chamber of Commerce and Board for the Lexington Tech Center, a member of the Aynor Lions Club, and Senior VP of First Citizens Bank. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at his Thursday night "choir" practice in Lexington. Surviving Mr. Dawsey is the wife of the home: Sue B. Dawsey; two sons: Jason Dawsey (Kristin) and Nathan Dawsey (Anna); three grandchildren: Mac Dawsey, Clara Dawsey, and Charlie Dawsey; three brothers: Sheldon Dawsey (Mary), Steve Dawsey (Beth), and Derrick Dawsey (Cindy) all of Aynor; one sister: Flora Lawrimore of Trinity, NC; and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Aynor Methodist Church from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Saturday, April 27, 2024. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Kelly Snelgrove officiating. The family will then receive friends at “The Gathering Place”, 2769 Dawsey Road following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Mr. Dawsey’s honor to Aynor Methodist Church PO Box 348 Aynor, SC 29511.
