Doris R. Jones

Mrs. Doris R. Jones, age 89, wife of the late Lemon “Sammie” Jones Jr., passed away at her residence on February 7, 2026, with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Jones was born on June 22, 1936, a daughter of the late Harry and Mary Winburn Richardson. She was a lifelong member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was also predeceased by one brother, Dale Richardson, and two sisters: Rachel McGee and Jean Williams. Mrs. Doris is survived by two sons: Calvin Jones (Cathy), Russell Jones (Diana); one daughter: Sonya Edwards (Phillip); eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; two brothers: Ted Richardson, Dick Richardson; six sisters: Paula Marquart, Audrey Byrd, Laura Burrows, Rosemary Booth, Ann Floyd and Connie Lopp. Visitation for Mrs. Doris will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Gethsemane Baptist Church with the Rev. Toby Jones, Rev. Ryan Edwards, and Mrs. Sallie Goldfinch officiating. Burial will follow at Sandy Plain United Methodist Church Cemetery.
